Green dreams?
The Green Party has stood candidates across the majority of wards in the city this year and are looking to regain a seat at the table on Sunderland City Council.
The Green Party’s first and sole representative on the council Dom Armstrong resigned as a councillor in 2021 after clashing with the party nationally, and the Green Party have not won a city council seat since.
Reform UK hopes
Washington South Councillor Paul Donaghy was elected as a Conservative before defecting to Reform UK in early 2023.
He is also Reform UK’s candidate in this year’s elections for the new North East Mayoral Combined Authority.
Reform UK stood local election candidates across Sunderland last year and are looking to gain more seats on the city council in 2024, with candidates standing in every ward.
